Heavenly Forest / Tada, kimi wo aishiteru (Japan, 2006)

While watching this movie, I continuously had the idea that there could have been made something more out of. It is a nice romantic story, which has its dramatic twist but it felt like something was missing.
The cinematography in this film is absolutely wonderful, the scenes in the forest are almost of an unknown beauty, a little glimpse into paradise it is. The true best past of the film is Aoi Miyazaki. I don’t have a clue how she does it but she always makes the film a success. She shines on film, gives the story just the spark that it needs (and don’t forget that she has such a great beauty, it is almost unimaginable) just by being there. She acts in such purity; even the childishness of her character wasn’t irritating because she just gave the right twist to it.
The end is decent, with a typical Asian (read: especially for Korean films) twist in the story.

A nice and moving film, but maybe it could have been a little better.

Aoi Miyazaki and what makes her one of the most beautiful actresses on this planet
There are moments in life when you walk on the street or are watching a movie you get hit by the absolute pure beauty of a person. At that moment you seem to understand the essence of beauty. What does attract you so much is not really clear but it just does. This magical force that totally surrounds you.
Well it happened to me as well. While watching the Korean drama ‘Virgin snow’ (First snow - Gyeoul yeonga)I was introduced to the Japanese actress Aoi Miyazaki (Tokyo, 1985). And I have to admit, I was completely stunned by her beauty. She has something that is pure, something that really finds the way to soften your heart.

What is it that she possesses? Yes, she is really, really beautiful, but not in the standard kind of way. In this movie she doesn’t wear sexy clothing, but just plain white clothes in the beginning. Maybe white adds to her purity.
In Asian cinema there is a total different culture of the clothing people wear. Where in the western countries we often see too much of a person with too tight shirts in Asian cinema (especially in China and Korea) it’s more reserved. It often does not even accentuate the body but it really makes the body. Because you have to compensate the attention is brought back to the beauty or purity of clothing. And this is what makes an actress already far more beautiful. One of the best examples is when Aoi Miyazaki wears a red Kimono in Virgin Snow. It’s just beyond words, true beauty.
True beauty still lies in the face of people and this is what, in my opinion, makes Aoi Miyazaki one of the most beautiful women on this planet and in Virgin snow she is in the bloom of her beauty. Her purity and softness of her face will get to anyones heart.

Keira Knightley quits acting?

Rumours become louder and louder that Keira Kneightley would quit her acting career. Let's hope she only will take a rest and return in the cinema's to star in beautiful movies again. Bend it like Beckham and the brilliant 'Pride and prejudice' are among my favourites so I really hope she will be back again. We haven't seen enough of her movies yet!!

Zhang Jingchu

After watching Jade warrior on sunday I got a bit curious about the actress that plays in it, Zhang Jing Chu. She seems to me a very confident actress who has a great charisma when she is on the white screen. Has anyone seen more of her movies? I know she acts in the movie called 'Peacock' (Qi Jian) and hear her acting was very good in that movie as well, but I've never seen it. I also know she will act in Rush hour 3, but I'm not the biggest fan of those movies I have to say.
Well, she is called the third Gong Li or the second Zhang Ziyi and I predict her a great future too, she seems to be a very talented actress.

Tommi Eronen / Zhang Jingchu

Today I finally had the oppurtunity to watch Jade Soturi (Jade warrior) in the cinema! Well I have to say it was great, fantastic epic story about good and evil. The first Finnish martial arts film ever made, with brillaint acting of Tommi Eronen and Zhang Jingchu. She does look so pretty in this film!!
I loved the magic feeling it gave, superb camera work of beautiful nature and villages. I can only strongly recommend this film to anyone, but beware the story isn't too simple again (which is great by the way). the story takes place in contempory Finland (Suomi) and China of 200o years ago. The story is based on the the national epic 'Kalevala' (a famous Finnish epic poem filled with legends and lore.) It's about a device that is called the 'Sampa' which is said to be the hidden source of happiness.
The fusion of Finnish and Chinese culture makes it very special to watch, when will it be out on dvd??
